News That Has Traveled Myles!

On June 1st, 2026, the NFL was expecting one trade to happen, but certainly not this one. What a complete shocker that came to the National Football League this afternoon. Reigning defensive player of the year, Myles Garrett, was traded to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for young star linebacker Jared Verse along with multiple draft picks for future years. This came as a complete shock to everyone in the football world, but at the end of the day, this makes a lot of sense for both teams. 

What You Need To Know While there are many different things to break down about this generational trade, let’s get you all caught up. Obviously, you know by now that the Rams are acquiring Defensive End Myles Garrett, however, the package that the Browns are getting in return is very interesting. The Cleveland Browns, in exchange for the best Defensive End, arguably the best Defensive player, in the NFL, are getting Star Linebacker Jared Verse, who has impressed all football fans in his first few seasons, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 2nd-round pick, and finally a 3rd-round pick in 2029.

All four of these pieces that were sent to the Browns will heavily help them, who can now change their focus to building a strong young core, instead of worrying about keeping their superstar happy. For the Rams, a team that was already one of the best in the 2025-26 season, now adds yet another superstar on the defensive side of the ball. A few months ago, they made a blockbuster trade with the Kansas City Chiefs, bringing in star Cornerback Trent McDuffie to help their secondary, and now they bring in Garrett to make their defensive line even stronger and scarier. 

What Now? Of course, after any blockbuster move, there is always speculation about both of the teams involved. Currently (about an hour after the report was made public), I think there is one clear point that each of the teams involved made today. Browns Trade Grade and Thoughts First, the Browns, who had just signed Myles Garrett to a record-breaking extension recently, get off the massive contract, leaving with a lot of flexibility for the next few years. Personally, I believe this is perfect for a team preparing to rebuild, and that is the point I think the Browns made today by sending their superstar defensive end to LA. For these reasons and more, the Browns will receive a B+ trade grade, as the only thing hindering this deal from getting an A is the fact that I do think they could have gotten a slightly bigger return for such a great player Myles Garrett is. However, they still were able to get a decent haul for him, landing them a solid grade from me. After this deal has been finalized, the attention will officially move from Myles Garrett to Shadur Sanders, Judkins, and the rest of the Browns organization, to see what they will decide to do post-Garrett. While I have no idea what they will do, I can speculate the Browns will attempt something similar to this: Chill, Watch, Lose. Due to recent events, for this upcoming season, I find it extremely hard to imagine that the Cleveland Browns will attempt to compete this year. By trading Garrett, the Browns may have some young intriguing pieces, but nothing spectacular that will win them enough games to compete in the AFC. While I do think we could see a few impressive games that may foreshadow good things to come, it would take a miracle for the Browns to actually compete this year. 

Rams Trade Grade and Thoughts

For the LA Rams, a team that was eliminated in the NFC Championship game to the eventual Super Bowl winners, this move puts them in an amazing spot for not only regular season success but postseason success as well. This trade lands them a solid A grade, as personally, I don’t even think they gave up too much for what they were acquiring. If anything, they might have fleeced the Browns by just a little bit, which deserves a great amount of respect to the Rams front office for getting that deal done. 

When I think about the LA Rams, this team led by reigning MVP Matthew Stafford, star wide receivers Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, and arguably the best coach in the league Sean McVay now after this deal, has almost no Achilles' heel. The offense was, of course, almost unstoppable last year and now with the McDuffie and Garrett trades, they might have one of the best defenses to pair up with that powerhouse offense. It will be truly interesting to see how good the Rams will actually be, but for that, we will have to wait another 4 months. One last thing, remember the last time the Rams won the Super Bowl against the Bengals in 2022? Well, that year the Rams had an incredible offense like the current squad with Stafford as the QB, Nacua and Cooper Kupp as their talented tandem, however, they had one more key piece that helped them win the Super Bowl that year. That piece was Future Hall of Famer, Defensive End, Aaron Donald. While Donald was a few years older than Garrett will be come September, that pass rush and run stopper completely gave the Rams a chance to beat the insane Bengals team that year. Similarly, Garrett will bring that key defensive dominance that may be able to get the Rams not only back to the Super Bowl but to a potential parade at the end of the season. It will be extremely interesting to see what transpires this year, but all we can do now is speculate and wait eagerly for the 2026-27 season and all the excitement it will bring. Final Thoughts

I guess one blockbuster trade was not enough for the NFL today. I was about to publish this post when the news came in so that is why this part will be a tad shorter. The second (maybe more expected) trade results in Eagles Wide Receiver AJ Brown being sent to the New England Patriots. In return, the Eagles will receive a 2028 First Round Pick and a 2027 fifth-round selection. Now let me explain why I love this trade so much for both teams. Starting with the Patriots and AJ Brown, Brown has been on a team with Mike Vrabel (Patriots Head Coach) before. When he played in Tennessee, Vrabel happened to be the coach. During this time, they were able to build a solid relationship that from what I have heard is still very strong. However, that is not just why I like this trade for the Pats. I think it's an even better trade because perhaps the most noticeable missing piece for the Patriots, who lost in the Super Bowl last year, was their receiver depth. By acquiring Brown, young sensation, Drake Maye finally will have a true number one receiver that he can trust to make the clutch catches that they were missing last February. 

For the Eagles, they receive draft capital for future years including a first-round pick. Last season it became more and more obvious that Devonte Smith was becoming the number one option and Brown was not totally happy about it. While the Eagles will lose a talented player in AJ, they will acquire a fair return for the veteran wide receiver. By making this move, the Eagles also free up a large amount of cap space that they could use to sign one of the remaining wide receiver free agents that are still out there. Guys like Stefon Diggs and Tyreek Hill are still out there, so they could make a big but cheaper signing in the coming days.

Either way, I do think that the Patriots definitely won this trade, however, the Eagles do get a good return, although I think it could have been better. With this all being said, I’ll give the Patriots an A grade for this transaction, while giving the Eagles a B- for obvious reasons.
