The Rumors Won't Stop, So Why Should I!

Since getting knocked out of the NBA playoffs less than a week ago, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been all over social media alongside millions of trade proposals. There have been several strong reports of the Wolves being "heavily interested" in stars like Giannis and Kyrie Irving, only to leave people wondering how much the Wolves would have to give up to pair Anthony Edwards with Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Finally, we might have gotten a little help in determining what Giannis' trade value could be, as today breaking news dropped out of the NBA with the trade package that the Miami Heat offered in exchange for Giannis officially revealed. This crucial bit of information gives us a helpful look at what the Wolves might have to give up for Giannis this off-season.

The Heat's Offer

This is what the Miami Heat reportedly offered in exchange for Antetokounmpo at the trade deadline earlier this year: sharpshooter Tyler Herro, wing Jaime Jaquez Jr., young big man Kel'el Ware, their No. 13 pick, and two future first-rounders to the Bucks for the superstar.

On this offer, I must say I am completely shocked that the Bucks considered taking the deal. Although 26, Herro, as good of a shooter as he is, is only under contract for one more season and has dealt with an insane amount of injuries in his career.

However, the three firsts are intriguing, but the Bucks take a huge risk as the picks could end up not as valuable if the Giannis and Bam experiment works well. Even if the Heat end up as another first-round exit, their pick would be around the 20th selection or higher, meaning the Bucks wouldn't necessarily receive great picks.

Finally, the only part of this trade I like for the Bucks are the additions of Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Kel'el Ware. Both bring young, talented players to Milwaukee, not to mention their multiple years of team control on team-friendly contracts.

Overall, I feel like this trade is a decent starter trade and personally, since this is what one of the most interested teams is willing to give up, that puts Minnesota at a great advantage, as in my opinion they have much better assets.

What Should the Wolves Offer?

With this latest development taken into account, here is what I think the Wolves could put together in order to acquire the Greek Freak. I will suggest two different offers: one that I think best matches the Heat's offer and one that is a bit of a stretch.

Now, the first suggestion will only take into account the assets the Wolves currently have. It will not include trading other players for picks that could be used in this deal, but just include the assets the Wolves have right now.

For the second suggestion, it will include a 3 or 4 team trade proposal that I think would make the most sense for all 4 teams involved. Of course, as mentioned above, this offer will be a bit of a stretch; however, I think it could definitely happen, or at least some parts of it.

First Offer For the offer that I think best matches the one the Heat offered, is going to have to include some sort of the following.

• A player to run the Bucks offense through

• A mixture of youth and depth

• Multiple Draft Picks

To start off with a player that the Bucks could easily run their offense through from the current Timberwolves roster, it is, of course, none other than Jaden McDaniels or the easier answer, Julius Randle.

Now, I think the Wolves would be open to including either of them in a potential Giannis deal. However, for the sake of this proposal, I will put Jaden in the offer to fill the player to run the offense through. When comparing McDaniels to Herro, I think I would rather have Jaden, who is an amazing two-way player that has offensive potential, is less injury-prone, and, of course, is under contract for much longer.

In regards to the mixture of youth and depth, I think Jaden definitely fills part of that. However, I think someone like Naz Reid would be included in this package, bringing that key 6th Man to the Bucks, who could also start Reid at the four or five. I think this Wolves package is already heading towards being more valuable than the Heat offer.

Lastly, the Wolves would need to add a selection of draft capital that the Bucks can also acquire. Due to the trade rules for draft picks, this would definitely be challenging; however, it could be done. I think accompanying McDaniels and Reid to Milwaukee would have to be at least two of the Wolves' picks, and this leaves the door open for a possible Rudy Gobert/Julius Randle trade where you could add more draft capital to send to the Bucks.

Now, this offer comes out to be Jaden McDaniels, Naz Reid, and two or more first-round draft picks. But there is one more addition to the trade: the injured Donte DiVincenzo. You would have to include Donte in this trade for financial reasons, and that is why I am okay giving up multiple young star players and extra draft picks. Donte will likely be out for the entire 2026-2027 NBA season due to the Achilles injury he suffered just weeks ago. Then, hoping everything goes well, the Bucks would get to have him play for one season before his contract is up.

Let me know if a) you think this trade offer is realistic or not and b) if the Bucks would take the injured Donte.

2nd Offer Now it is time to have a little fun with this 4-team trade that I have been experimenting with for the last few days. The teams included are, of course, the Wolves and Bucks, but also the Hornets and the Mavericks. Again, this will be a bit of a stretch, but please stop and see the vision.

Before I reveal the offer, note these needs for the other two teams I have included.

The Hornets are coming off an incredible season where they shocked everyone by making the play-in tournament. Although they had a successful season, once they hit the clutch moments, the lack of experience and big men definitely showed.

The Mavericks and Cooper Flagg also had a very interesting season. They failed to even make the play-in, traded away another star player (Anthony Davis), and have now recently fired their coach. It looks like a clear reset is going to happen for Dallas, centering all around the reigning rookie of the year, Cooper Flagg.

Now here is a look at the trade I successfully put together.

There is, of course, a lot going on in this trade proposal; however, let me explain why each team would do something like this.

Wolves, of course, get Giannis (true co-star) and Kyrie Irving (point guard they have been looking for).

Bucks acquire Jaden McDaniels (their new star), Bridges (veteran forward), TJ Shannon, and James (young forces off the bench) along with 3 first-round picks.

Hornets take in Rudy Gobert, who would be incredibly useful to their young offensive team, providing intelligent defense and leadership to these younger players. I think they would pay a decent price for him, given that it could be their only need for them to be considered favorites in a weak Eastern Conference.

Finally, the Mavericks acquire Julius Randle, who can pair nicely with Cooper Flagg, setting up a forward-heavy game plan for the new Dallas Mavericks. Not pictured are a few 2nd-round picks from the Wolves and then Bucks to make the trade a little more convenient for the Mavericks, who start their new era by getting rid of their old vet, Kyrie Irving.
